Sometimes it’s just ‘good to talk’.
However, psychotherapy and counselling is not
just about talking, rather it is a talking therapy.
To be listened to can be very rewarding. How
often do you feel that you are not listened to? That your opinions don’t count? That your thoughts and feelings don’t
matter?
Many people don’t actually listen to what
others are saying to them, rather, even as the other person is speaking, they are formulating in their own mind, what they
are going to say in response!!
In psychotherapy and counselling, not only are
you listened to but you will be encouraged to ‘hear yourself’. You may come to realize that a lot of your problems
stem from your own ‘self talk’, which for many people is quite negative.
