WHY STOP SMOKING?
Well perhaps we should ask ‘Why did you start smoking’?
Most people started smoking because their friends smoked (peer pressure) or because they
thought it was ‘big’ – ‘grown up’, based on their parents or some other significant adult figure
who was a smoker.
So, think about it, you never actually needed to smoke, not then and definitely, not now!
DOES SMOKING SERVE A PURPOSE?
Undoubtedly the answer here is – Yes.
When you started smoking it served the purpose of ‘being like your friends’, ‘accepted’,
a sense of ‘belonging’. Or perhaps you needed to feel ‘grown up’.
Then again, some of us can experience a sense of awkwardness or of self consciousness, especially when
we’re with other people. Occupying ourselves by taking a cigarette from a pack, lighting it, smoking it, gives a form
of ‘cover’, something to do that eases those awkward or self conscious feelings.
But again, smoking is not something you need to do. Never was and never will be!
BUT NOW I’M ADDICTED
Addiction is a term often used about cigarettes and smoking, but it’s important
to understand what the addiction really is.
There are two elements to this addiction – nicotine action and psychological habit.
Believe it or not, the psychological addiction is possibly the most powerful!
Understand this with the help of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and you are well on the
way to becoming a Natural Non Smoker.
CAN I JUST STOP?
Why not! Thousands have!
So it’s not a question of ‘can you’ – but rather a question of
‘will you’?
Your power of choice is a fantastic gift, a wonderful expression of personal freedom.
Do you REALLY choose to become a non smoker? If you do then Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy could undoubtedly help you in such
an exciting decision.
THINK ABOUT THIS
Are you fortunate enough to still
be in relatively good health? Can you imagine how difficult it can be to have a healthy, creative and expressive mind but
live within a diseased and failing body?
Failing health through smoking related
disease can reduce the quality of life so drastically even to the point when life can seem unbearable, indeed ‘not worth
living’ and yet the natural tendency for the majority of people is to continue in their existence. ‘Ending it
all’, even if contemplated is rarely evoked.
There seems to be something within
us that wants to live, or it may simply be that we do not know what there is beyond this life.
Many smokers know the possible consequences
of smoking but have lost the sense of self worth and self respect. It is this that ‘allows’ them to continue in
their self destruction, ultimately to live with degenerative illnesses and a reduced quality of life, left only to reflect,
‘if only I had loved myself enough to give it up years ago’.
Your body is where you live. Your
body is the vehicle in which your mind expresses and accomplishes so much and interacts with the world.
Respect and appreciate your body.
